30 Things To Do At Disney World: Expedition Everest

My Dreams of Disney
Rising majestically above Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest is the crown jewel of the park!

Today we turn our attention to Disney’s Animal Kingdom park, and towering over us as we enter the park is none other then Expedition Everest!  This roller coaster is one of my wife’s favorite coasters, and for good reason!  Not only do you battle the Yeti to escape destruction, but the coaster takes you both forward and backwards for a trip down Everest itself!  Standing at 199 1/2 feet tall, the mountain is just a short of the FAA limit before needing a red beacon light attached to warn aircraft.  The coaster itself, though, doesn’t reach that height.

Like many incredible rides, this one, since it has an outdoor feature to it, offers up some incredible views — take a look at this picture that Jennifer shared with us for the Disney in Pictures segment “Favorite Disney Attraction!

Looking over the “World!”

To me, some of the best photos I have of Expedition Everest are of the mountain itself, and I’m going to share those with you, but part of what makes the ride such a must see attraction is the whole story behind the ride.  The Imagineers did a wonderful job in making the story come to life, and it continually amazes me how much an attraction can be transformed into a magical experience just because of the story.  That is part of what makes Disney the best place to visit in the world!

I hope that you have enjoyed taking a look at Expedition Everest!  One of my goals for our next trip is to take more detailed photos of the queue so that you can really capture the essence of the ride.  If you’ve never experienced Expedition Everest before, I hope you will do so soon!

I love Expedition Everest! I make it my quest to see how many times I can ride it in a day or over and over again (using the single rider lane of course). My record is 21 times in a row before the rest of my family made me feel guilty and I finally caught back up with them. I never make them wait. I get up and go alone or with my daughter on the early entry days and ride until they open the single rider lane. Then it is get on, ride, take pics, get off, and get back in line to start it all over again. I love this ride and never get tired of it!
